Birthplace of the P.E.O. Sisterhood

Iowa P.E.O.s are extremely proud of our status as the Birthplace of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. It was founded by seven young women students on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan University in 1869 and has grown into a Sisterhood of nearly a half million members in the United States and Canada. P.E.O. is an organization where women CELEBRATE the advancement of women; EDUCATE women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship of Cottey College; and MOTIVATE women to achieve their highest aspirations.
